Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) designs and delivers highly efficient and environmentally friendly power generation facilities, including boilers, steam turbines, generators, air quality control systems, and other machineries.

A steam power plant consists of a boiler, steam turbine and generator, and other auxiliaries. The boiler generates steam at high pressure and high temperature. The steam turbine converts the heat energy of steam into mechanical energy. The generator then converts the mechanical energy into electric power.
By properly integrating the equipment, we are able to design and deliver highly efficient and environmentally friendly power plants.

What is ultra-supercritical pressure?
Under normal atmospheric pressure [0.101 MPa], water boils at 100ºC. As pressure increases, the boiling temperature of water also increases. When the pressure is increased to 22.12 MPa, and at a temperature of 374ºC, water does not boil but is directly converted into steam. This is called the critical point, and the pressure above this critical point is called supercritical pressure. Supercritical pressure with a temperature equal to or more than 593ºC is called ultra-supercritical pressure.

Co-generation Plants

Paving the way for the effective use of energy

In case surplus energy is available and electricity and steam are required for factory operations, one solution is to integrate an industrial purpose power plant to the factory.
Utilization of surplus energy from the factory as fuel for the boiler and generating both electricity and steam allows effective use of the available energy and is called co-generation. By optimizing the system, it contributes to stability of power supply and reduction of environmental impact.
